STIR NIGERIA: After the Presidential Media Chat

Before you ask me if u have become a political writer or blogger, let me inform you that there are three kinds of people: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened.

I have chosen to not be mentioned among the majority who stood for nothing and never embraced the despair of failure in their quest for the joys of victory. If things aren't going right and you keep mute, you're no better than those in support of injustice.

I just had a cup of Lipton, and true to it, I almost drank a sugarless cup of Lipton. The sugar settled beneath like stones at the sea bed. I unconsciously stirred to "play" with the crystals only to realize that they "disappeared" until I found no more. Then it occurred to me that what is not stirred never tastes sweet.

Nigeria, is to me, like a cup of tea. The sugar must be stirred. If measurable changes are to find root in this country, we must stir!

That means that we must displace everything that can be displaced. We must unsettle whoever must be unsettled. We must stir Nigeria!

A cold war it will be, but it is a war worth fighting to the finish. Nothing seems guaranteed but our determination can see us through the hard moments. We should stop thinking we are in times of peace. These are times of war; cold, silent and ruthless war for the heritage of our children and our welfare. War against the greedy minority. War against the facilitators of insurgency. War against western ideas and opinions that turn one against another. War against the madness that has become a norm in a once admirable nation. Take a cue from the Late President John Atta Mills of Ghana, and now President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda. These are African leaders that are stirring their countries, the cold-blooded threats of the west notwithstanding.

If you are a true Nigerian, from your sphere of influence, STIR NIGERIA!

WHEN LOVE HAPPENS

Love is as strong as death.

What would a man do for love?

It was Brandy that said in her hit song, Have You Ever, "Have you ever loved somebody so much it makes you cry?" So many people are desperately in search of love but can hardly recognize true love when it shows up. "How do you know love when you can't explain it?" That was my question to an audience of about hundred undergraduates last Sunday at Red Val 2014 (see my hash tag #RedVal2014 on Twitter).

Unarguably, there is a premonition that love is an unexplainable feeling of affection for someone; and love songs from western tunes in America and Europe blare it loudly. Listen to Spanish Guitar by Toni Braxton, Brown Eyes by Destiny Child, I call it Love by Lionel Richie, and Brandy's Have You Ever; one thing is common to them: love is a feeling. If love is a feeling, then it won't last. Little wonder it was recently sung that Love is Wicked!

WHEN LOVE HAPPENS 2

Love is as strong as death.

In the first part of this post, I began sharing about "When Love Happens". I continue from where I stopped.

...I taught that love is like a 3-D movie. It has three faces. The Greek clearly understand this mystery and as such they had whole temples dedicated to the goddess of love in every ancient Greek city. They taught the three faces: Agape, Phileo and Eros.

Agape is unreserved commitment to a person, not necessarily unconditional. It honors the commitment for the good of the other. It is selfless and focused on others. True love must begin from here.

Phileo is fondness for the person. It is committed to companionship and friendship. Phileo enjoys the company of the other. It is open and does not pretend. It is anchored on common values, vision, interests and sometimes background. Ur sets the tone for the next and third part.

Eros is the romantic part. It is packed with electricity flashing through your spine at the sight of the person. It accounts for sexual attraction and wanton. Eros generates all the feelings of affection and romance. It is the part everyone generally calls love; yet it's just a third of the picture.

When love happens, it must have begun from Agape, grown into Phileo and then erupted into Eros. That was my experience, unlike what Hollywood said in the songs. Love isn't fallen into; it is grown into.

Be sure to know...when love happens!

Happy Valentine's Day.

B-L-E-S-S

Tomorrow is predictable by today's words.

Ever wondered why there is great importance attached to being blessed? I did too until I discovered through research few minutes ago.

To BLESS is to speak good of a thing, event or person. It connotes using current state to set the tone for the future of that thing, event or person.

To BLESS is to define the future now. It is to decide in advance that the days ahead will be highly favorable and more enriching than the past.

It often is engraved in a stone of delight; a fountain of joy and gladness. To BLESS is to ordain the future as better because of today's good. Wow!

If I were you, I would BLESS myself right away!
