MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND

"Money is the most important thing in life; it surely us not
      the least important thing either."

The subject of money has brewed a lot if controversy among
different social and religious settings. But one thing is
certain, money is an integral part if daily life. Truth be
told, if you have handled and experienced money that is
noteworthy or you have met crucial needs of yours or loved
ones with money in your possession, you would speak in
defense of money. Howbeit, money has been accorded a status
undeserved, and that should be corrected.

Of all things in life, money is one subject that resonates
deep with people. It determines how we are perceived in
social settings and how many options we can explore. Money
limits your power to do good or raises it. The value or
quantity in your possession labels you as rich or poor. In
your hand or in your mind, you are how much money you can
      fathom.

WHEN COMPANIES BECAME HERMAPHRODITES!

Now some people are already wondering whether I am about to animate organizations; well you are close to the point but for the better part of it, I am about to show you the sex of your organization so that you can relate that with the drift you have experienced for the better part of the last five to ten years.
Let me begin this way: Men are from Mars, women are from Venus; where are hermaphrodites from? Jupiter?! Organizations and their leaders have for several years (though not all organizations are guilty) been either male or female. Ideally, as I would show you, organizations ought to be hermaphrodite. Males are genetically wired to think logically so they never really care about the soft topics like love and children. Females, on the other hand, are sculpted to behave, think and perceive emotionally; that is why they cry about what happened to someone they don’t even know his name. There are marked differences between males and females in how they think, how they behave and what matters most to them.

For Bosses Only!

If you have people working with you in your organization, you most likely will admit that people are some of the hottest headaches of a boss. You already have the matters of finance, strategy, competition and even marketing to worry about, and here comes the folks who are supposed to ease the burden adding theirs to it. Well I am yet to see any enterprise where personnel management is not a big deal. All the blue-chips and international organizations of this world have personnel problems that are blue-chip and international in rating. So this is the good news: you are not in a peculiar situation.

SOLO DISASTER: How One Man’s Error Results In National Havoc

Leaders can be imported, and leaders can be exported; but for any entity to experience phenomenal change it must nurture leaders. Help does not come from abroad; it begins within. Nations of Africa must stop looking abroad for national development and social change; instead we should look within and nurture our own leaders. Each time we abdicate our leadership responsibilities to imported “leadership commodities”, we deny ourselves the opportunity to experience deep-seated, exponential and spot-on change. Take a cue from Japan that shut her doors and borders on the rest of the world for twenty years only to look within for all the help, ideas, wisdom, strategies and answers that transformed her into a first world nation after the horrible effects of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

It was a time of hardness, denial and great discomfort for the Japanese citizens because nothing was imported and nothing was exported all those years. Whatever they enjoyed or lacked was their own doing, failure to do or refusal to d. they were the architects of their own experience. The results of Japan’s closed door policy: astronomical advancement in technology and manufacturing transforming Japan into a world power and one of the top twenty countries in the world.

Think also of England’s Winston Churchill who stood to rebuff Adolf Hitler and his Nazi militia on their communist agenda. As the Nazis swept across Europe, European nations surrendered leadership and government to the communists. This irresponsible and cowardly act of European national leaders led to what can be arguably seen as a “National Betrayal Epidemic.” Hundreds of thousands of people lost their lives in prison rooms, in torture cells and in inhumane conditions to live in. More, still, lost their homes: their children, their spouses, their family heritage. Majority lost their right to self; the right to make personal choices without the spying eyes of the secret police and their agents. Worst of all, many lost their faith – the very essence of man’s soul. Without faith, man is lost on earth. Vast hordes of European adults, teenagers and children lost their right to choose what their faith was. It was a mental massacre all over Europe; but England chose a different course. And it was Churchill who was at the vantage.  England’s stand to defend her national identity and the future of her citizens was upheld and promoted by Churchill who went to war against Hitler even when the odds were against him. With military support coming later from America and Africa, England was victorious; but it all happened because a leader stood as a watchman over his nation and discharged his duties patriotically.

Reading this, you may not be a Prime Minister or a President of a nation but if you are the leader of a corporation, head over a family, dean of a faculty or facilitator of a non-profit or humanitarian cause, a lot relies on you. Your decision, indecision or wrong decision could writhe havoc that ravages everyone under your influence. Ezekiel Buzi on March 17, 585BC wrote,
“When an army comes against a country, the people of that land choose one of their own to be a watchman. When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people. Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die. They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives. But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn't sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.”

This is the heart of the matter: for his error, the people bear the havoc. Avoid the solo disaster syndrome.

DOZING ON DUTY: The beggar who missed out on the alm.

In a commercial ride to Agege, a woman delivered a repertoire of prayers contained mostly of pleas for money to feed. Momentarily, after about 25 minutes, her voice faded into silence. A few minutes later, when I had finally made up my mind to give her some money, I turned my head in her direction only to find her in dreamland! She was top-speed asleep. Even when there was some noise in the vehicle, she didn't twitch a muscle. When the bus ran through rough places, she maintained her state of comfort. Then I thought to myself, “No wonder she is poor. Why won’t she lack when she sleeps at the point of providence?” It took me TUGGING AT HER HAND FIVE TIMES BEFORE SHE SNAPPED OUT OF HER SLUMBER.

Many like the dozing beggar miss out on opportunity because they just didn't know when it came around town. There are three core reasons people miss out on what they seem to really desire: first is distraction; second is insensitivity; third is absence. Distraction by other things that are not what you actually want robs you of the desire of your heart. Insensitivity to the seasons and times of your life denies you of magnificent blessings and opportunities. Absence because you retired or threw in the towel keeps you on the spectator stands while you stand disqualified.

A lot of people actually really want certain things; in fact, they desire it so much that they cry and even pray to God in whom they have no faith. The unfortunate part is that when the desire shows up, they are either entirely absent, grossly distracted or highly insensitive to take delivery of it. Like the dozing beggar, most people are the way they are today, have the trend of negative experiences they are suffering from and live regrettable and dissatisfied lives just because they are asleep when their desire looked them in the eye. They are fast asleep! Such people are plagued by stagnation. In a sleeping state, you can receive nothing!

Don’t sleep on your desire; keep your eyes wide open. Stay awake long enough to receive what you seek when it is to be given to you. You are most vulnerable when you are asleep. Ask Saul Kish, the first king of ancient Israel.

Glee Star Departs: Cory Monteith kicks the bucket

The passing of popular TV series “Glee” star Cory Monteith who played the role of Finn Hudson in the show came as a shock to not only Hollywood or his parents or his girlfriend and co-star of Glee “Lea Michele” who plays Rachael but also to the world at large.

Everyone who watches glee is a fan of Finn and as soon as the news broke out about his death the whole world was in disarray.

I am myself horrified at the tragic news!

Amid all this, I gleaned a little insight: If you do not take advantage of the opportunities that life presents to you to pursue your life-long dreams, you may never live to see them again. What if "Finn" was never seen in Glee?

You don't have a spare life, make the most of this one life you have. Make all the mistakes you can, take all the opportunities you can, be all you can be!

R.I.P Cory Monteith aka "Finn Hudson".

Glee is incomplete without you!

BADDEST GUYS ON THE BLOC

Have you heard about the baddest guys on the bloc?

If you haven’t, then you are stale on the latest. The baddest guys are not just the faces we all know; in fact, they are the ones who call the shots behind the scene. Just as Nigerians easily know that there is a cabal controlling the oil blocks in the Niger Delta, you must realize that there are the baddest guys on the bloc.

In today’s world, we identify good as evil and evil for good. It’s not so much a bad idea, only that there are some extremely naïve people who are far from current civilization. They are archaic and have refused to flow with the change of things. As undergraduates, we often called the most brilliant guys in my class bad guys. They were bad guys not because they did evil but because that was the slang. Likewise, in every field of endeavor, there are some bad guys who do extraordinary things. They are totally exceptional! They are the ones who make all the difference, get all the attention and the finest ladies. Don’t feel bad if you are not one of them; I can give you one simple advice: learn their secrets.

DON'T HANG YOUR BOOTS

Football matches are rather energetic and loaded with tension. If you watched the UEFA Champions league 2012 final between Bayern Munich of Germany and Chelsea of England on Saturday, 19 May 2012 at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. It was a nerve-wringling match. I did not know who to suppport but Chelsea came across as a favorite to me because of my desire to see Didier Drogba win a Champions League Final.

The match of course went in favor of Chelsea after penalty shoot-outs: 4-3. It was a day to rejoice after adrenalin had been pumped across the world!

Unlike the very usual, I want to inform you not to hang your boots after any encounter that defines a very important moment in your life. One of the greatest deterrents to lasting greatness has been discovered to be the "comfort zone". This is a when a person refuses to leave a place of success or failure in fear of attempting other ventures and in an attempt to hold on to what was already in his or her gallery.

Here are six important insights that have really affected me.

LOVE IN TOKYO

It is no longer in vogue, but back in the early 1990’s this was the thing! Whenever a guy and a girl were playing love on the roadside, rather than say they are so in love, the expression was “see love in Tokyo”.

I am not a hard core relationship specialist, but I have some experience and some really profound insight about relationship matters, one of which I want to share with you. We all experience painful moments particularly caused by those that we trusted wholeheartedly. There are many ladies whose hearts bleed continuously because of a beloved who was unfaithful. Many guys carry deep-seated hurt caused by a girl who betrayed their trust. The danger I have so often found is that the aggression and hurt is transferred to other innocent individuals who come the way of these wounded lions and tigers. Without knowing the graveness of their emotional state, they destroy potentially beneficial relationships because of past hurt and negative experiences.

My word to you if you are in this state is to look beyond the experience. You cannot claim to be going forward with your concentration on your rear. You are bound to crash! Take your eyes off the past. Hard as it may seem, it is beneficial for you to progress in life. Bitterness is like holding on to a tree and asking the tree to let go of you. You have to let go, else you may miss out on the real treasure you seek.

If the whole world is cruel, there will always be an exception that perfectly suits you. The day I found that perfect exception, I knew the pain was worth the while. Why do I say this? My emotions had been tried and I had mastered them. See these painful experiences as opportunities to become better in preparation for that special person that will sweep you off your feet.

There is always an exception that perfectly suits your individuality; prepare by first taking your eyes off the past. Next, develop yourself to become such a desirable person. Finally, wait patiently for that special person to cross your path. Listen carefully to the lyrics of this song from Glee; it says “You are the only Exception!

There is always an exception!

The Law of Loyalty
What or whom you treasure gets the most of your attention.

Loyalty is one of the core requirements for profitable followership. Leaders are essentially followers who have mastered the art of followership. Leaders never cease to be followers; they have only learnt and developed their capacity to lead others having a deep understanding of what followership entails. Loyalty is not bondage as some perceive it to be. Loyalty is not inconvenient, neither is it painful. Often times when people experience inconvenience and pain with regard to their loyalty to their leader, it is primarily because they never were loyal. They simply thought they were loyal. You know it is very possible to assume you know something very well only to realize your foolishness later on. Loyalty is a state of the heart not a principle you adopt. If your heart is not in that state, you cannot beat your chest proudly to say, “I am loyal.”
Loyalty should not be confused with trustworthiness. They are different and extremely dissimilar. You are trustworthy because of your values and principles. You are loyal because of the value you place on a thing or person. The higher the value, the deeper your loyalty. You can be trustworthy to a person yet not be loyal to the person. You cannot possibly experience pain or inconvenience doing what you cherish. It was Thomas Edison who quipped, “I never did a day’s work in my life. It was all fun!” And his words were confirmed by Confucius who said, “Choose work you love; and you will never have to work a day in your life.” There is recurrent theme in these two statements; it’s that you don’t encounter boredom and inconvenience doing what you love from your heart. Loyalty is a state of the heart, not an attitude nor a principle to adopt. If you truly love the person in question, your loyalty to the person will not be laden with inconvenience. For God’s sake, you love and treasure this person.

The flip side of this law is that some people have divided loyalties; and many have their loyalties in the wrongest of places. If you take a second look at what the Law of Loyalty states, you will find that there is a “What” as well as a “Whom”. Many people have their loyalty bestowed on money, some on fame, and others on power. Some have their loyalty bestowed on silly things like sex, events, clothes, physical possessions and the like. With loyalty placed wrongly, you have no guarantee of exceptionality. In fact, the guarantee of commonness far outweighs the probability of exceptionality. Loyalty should be to superiors and the really important people in our lives. If you ask me, I believe loyalty should first be to God; unquestionably. Then you must be loyal to your spouse. After your spouse come your mentors and leaders. Then your friends and family share the next spot. I believe that the Law of Loyalty is what Jesus Christ was teaching his listeners during his marathon mountain training session in Matthew 6:19–34. He was redirecting the loyalty of the people from what to whom, and you ought to do likewise.

These are not all you need to be exceptional in life, but I strongly believe they form the foundation for most of the other things. With these three laws, your motives are guided, your actions are informed with certainty, and you giving are intentionally done with rewards in expectation.

Your feedback and comments are invaluable; kindly leave one below.

3 LAWS OF EXCEPTIONALITY (2)

Hello Dear Reader. In the first post on The 3 Laws of Exceptionality, I shared on the Law of Giving. In this post we will take on the second law. As a reminder, it is not what you know that really makes the difference but what you do with what you learn. I personally make conscious efforts to put into practice everything I learn immediately I leave the place of learning. That way, it gets built into my system and subconscious pretty faster because I am carrying it out with the enthusiasm I had when I learned it. If you allow the passion and energy to wane before you practice these laws, you may not get maximum results. You are the architect of your own destiny; I am just a guide and consultant. You are the builder, I am the observer. Guess what? I am just as busy building my own life as well. So you will be better off considering it a privilege to get a little of my attention since I am just as busy as you are. Before you get into reading the next law, if you missed my FREE E-book Gift in my last post, here is another opportunity to get it. Simply leave a comment about this post below, and be sure to include your e-mail address. You will receive your gift within 24 hours.

The Law of Obedience
True obedience is prompt and precise.
There are two concepts that try to discredit this law. They are partial obedience and delayed obedience. If I must lay things straight, the end does not justify the means. There are some things that are not to be rationalized. Let me give you a quick example: Suppose you are CEO of GE, and you tell your personal assistant “Sam, can you please get this cup of coffee off my table? I need to get down to work right away.” Sam responds that he will be right back to do what you have asked him to do; only that he just wants to deliver the files you handed to him earlier to the accounting department and HR. While Sam is away, your secretary walks in with a document for you to sign from the COO. Remembering that the cup of coffee is still on your table, you ask the secretary to get rid of it. She leaves the document before you, grabs the cup of coffee, wipes the table dry and heads out immediately. She returns within a few minutes to continue with the signing she earlier came in to do. While you are signing the document, Sam returns to execute the new instruction of getting the cup of coffee off your table only to realize that it’s been done already. Now tell me, who obeyed you? Sam or your secretary?
Obedience to God, authority figures, your intuition and your conscience – if it must count in your favor – must be prompt and precisely executed. What is instructed must not be incompletely executed nor should it be delayed for anything. We must learn to correctly discern what is important all the time, especially in the workplace. Partial obedience and delayed obedience are snags to experiencing the extraordinary results that should follow ever act of obedience. True obedience guarantees favor, strengthens reputation and enhances dependability. If you really want to obey, don’t delay and don’t rationalize. Do just what was instructed immediately.

THE 3 LAWS OF EXCEPTIONALITY

Have you wondered what the greatest of men in the history of the world did to become so exceptional? Of a truth, there are stars and there are superstars, and there is a whole world of difference between them.  A wise man opined that “the secret of men is in their daily routine” meaning that there are things that these people did that made them so exceptional. In The Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell is of the opinion that the outliers–those people that engendered extraordinary results–performed so not just because of what they did but also because of where they are from. I totally agree with him and I suggest that you make the most of your background and all the advantages that it offers you in your quest for an exceptional life. But in this post, I am going to dwell on those things you need to do to make your life count maximally. Knowing and taking advantage of your background, you must do the right things also to be really exceptional. That is what Effectiveness is all about; and that is my message to you.

Just yesterday, Goldie, a Nigerian Music Star and one of the faces at Big Brother Africa died of pulmonary embolism in the wee hours of Friday, February 16, 2013. Shocking as it was, it reinforced the fact that you have such a brief lifetime to be all that you are made to be. At the most, you have twenty years atop a century. And if you are reading this, I would guess that you have consumed the twenty years over and above the century mark. If the reports of the UNFPA are anything to go by, life expectancy is not more than 90 years in any country in the world. Going by this, it tells that you are, at the moment, left with less than 70 years to be all that you were born to be. That calls for some reasons to be serious and intentional about each and every moment of your life; especially NOW!

Exceptionality. What does it mean? The closest word to it is Uniqueness. You are the only you that ever existed, currently exists and will ever exist on this earth. God has not run out of genetic combinations to repeat one combination in all the time the world has been in existence. That tells me that you have one life that is unique in all its ramifications. There is no one that can behave, perform and influence the world in the way that you can. You are one in 12 billion! Let that stick first.
Now, to the 3 Laws of Exceptionality. The three laws I am about to share with you are three of the most powerful truths that I have found in my research into the annals of history of the most exceptional men that ever walked the face of the earth. Talk about men like Alexander the Great, Jesus Christ, Abraham, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, George Muller, Martin Luther King Jnr., Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Micheal Faraday and the list goes on. The interesting part is how I have come to understand these three laws. My understanding of them is completely different from how I have heard most of the world’s motivational speakers talk about them. So why not see my perspective and how it drives exceptionality.

The Law of Giving
Whatever must leave the hand must have already left the heart.
I discovered that we don’t really give with our hands; rather we give from our hearts. All giving that is not from the heart is simply hand exercise. Many people claim to give but they are only wasting their time and resources, because nothing can be expected from such endeavors.  There is a right way to give without which the whole essence and power of giving is defeated. I have written severally that “a lie never turns out to be true”; so no matter how long you spend doing the wrong thing, it will never turn out to be the correct thing. Nature is designed to support only the very things that are rightly done. Giving done apart from the heart carries no promise of returns, bears no real value and counts for a loss to the purported giver. For giving to truly count, it must be from the heart and leave from the hand. Otherwise, it is not giving.

In consonance with my commitment not to ever teach what sells but what works; and to live my message, I am giving my newest E-BOOK worth $28: How To Get Along Well With Anybody as a FREE gift to everyone who leaves a comment about this post and their email address. You will receive your free gift within 24 hours.

MENTORING

Mentoring is the fastest route to where you are going. It is riding on the carriage of those who have walked the same path you are on right now. Mentoring is your advantage above your peers. It is your access to the wisdom and experience of an entire generation before you. I’m sure you don’t want to take it for granted.

Mentoring is like an aircraft; it gets you to your destination faster than those who ply the road. True, it may be difficult for the aircraft to mount into the air, but its speed will definitely give you the needed advantage. Mentoring gives you unprecedented access to what those who went before you have learnt by errors, mistakes and attempts over their years of experience. It gives you confidence, directs your actions and gives you the freedom to be intentional with every move you make. With mentoring, you are not guessing!

If you want to be effective, you need mentoring. Let me put it in a better light: If you want to arrive at your dreams faster, you need mentoring! If you want to avoid the hidden pitfalls, escape the discouraging hassles and beat the odds against you, mentoring is the key. I have mentors who guide my steps. They reveal to me what I couldn’t have discovered on my own. They show me what could have taken me five years to find out. They help me avoid pitfalls that could have slowed me down and discouraged me. They help me gain speed and maintain my momentum towards significant achievement. I bet you desire the same.

To give you an edge, I have decided to give you an opportunity to enjoy premium mentoring from my years of experience, trial, errors, successes and failures. I am giving this opportunity to you because you follow my blog. This mentoring offer originally costs $2500 but as a reward for being an ardent follower of my blog over the last one year, you are qualified for a special 63% discount offer!(Wow!)
